NEFAS Membership

Why Become a NEFAS Member?

NEFAS is an organization conceived to support public education and the astronomical community in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. Our operating expenses are covered exclusively through annual dues and the generosity of individuals or corporate sponsorship. The benefits of membership in NEFAS include:

  • A place to meet others of similar interests and to exchange knowledge and skills in a safe observing environment.
  • Discounts on Astronomy and Sky & Telescope magazines and discounted products through several publishers.
  • Membership in the Astronomical League, with its bi-monthly magazine Reflector for non-group members only
  • Knowledge that you are helping schools and youth groups have a chance to view the universe with quality instruments.
  • Monthly lectures, seminars, or social meetings.
  • Ability to check-out NEFAS library telescopes for personal use. Groups may check out only 1 telescope per group.

NEFAS dues run from the date you join for one calendar year and are very reasonable:

$5 per member for groups (30 members or less)
for seniors (55+) and students
$40 for individuals
$50 for families
$75 or more for benefactors
$250 or more for Corporate

Anyone can join at any time during  the year.  Dues may be paid online.  Astronomical League membership is renewed quarterly automatically the following quarter.  Any questions you would like to ask, please send e-mail to

How Do I Become a Member?

You can become a member via any of the following methods:

  1. Fill out our online application and pay via PayPal – you do not need a PayPal account to submit payment.
  2. Mail In Your Membership Form and Dues
    Download our Membership Application. Fill in the form and send it along with your membership dues to: P.O. Box 5432, Jacksonville FL, 32247-5432. You may also bring the form and dues to any NEFAS function and give it to one of our officers.
